Tennessee Waltz

As I told you before, I went home this weekend. What I didn't tell you was that my Daddy and I practiced our dancing for the wedding and I almost cried. My Daddy picked out this song for us to dance to:

Doesn't that make your heart melt? My Daddy learned how to waltz for this song and I can't wait to share this dance together. I think we will dance to the Patsy Cline version instead of the Norah Jones version since 1) my daddy loves country and 2) the Norah version is a bit long.

For those of you who haven't seen my wedding invitation, here it is. I designed the invitation to be simple and modern. I really love watercolor and wanted to add in a personal touch, so I water colored out a map to include with the invitations. They also had a doily and a small picture of Drew and me included inside.

Wedding Shower in Knoxville

This weekend was so wonderful! Savannah and I headed up on Friday to Knoxville and spent most of the weekend visiting with my family and having fun girl time at my bridal shower. The bridal shower was at the Applecake Tea Room-- which serves THE BEST chicken salad and banana nut cream cheese sandwiches you have ever tasted! They also have something called "Friendship Tea" which I'm convinced is made of something combining angel's tears and fruit from the tree of goodness. The shower was hosted by my mom's best friends who have been getting together for the past 30 years. They are the sweetest women and blessed me with their words of encouragement, recipes, and gifts galore! Thank you, ladies, for a very special day. :)

Before & Afters: Chairs

I'm starting a new series on my blog called, "Before & Afters." Since we are poor, I am planning to do a lot of home mini-makeovers to pieces of furniture that already exist and some DIY projects to create look-alikes to things on my wish list that we can't quite afford.

Since Drew made that beautiful table for me, I needed some chairs for it! My office had these 4 chairs that they gave me for FREE. Yeah baby! But, unfortunately, I'm not a 70's style kind of girl. So, the yellow and brown floral pattern had to go. Solution: Spray paint!!!

I hope you're planning a spiffy Memorial Day weekend! I'm heading up to Knoxville to see my family and partake in a bridal shower given for me by my mother's friends. :) And Savannah is sweet enough to join me for the trip! It's good to have a wonderful, fabulous best friend. AND I get to see my little nephew and hold him for the first time. Then, on Sunday, Savannah and I are hosting another Pinterest Party! We are planning to make some gorgeous and unique jewelry stands out of picture frames, boxes, or other thrifted//found items.

Now Offering: Ad Swap!

I'm now offering an ad swap! I love meeting and getting to know other bloggers and I'd love to team up with you and help each other get the word out about our blogs! Currently, I'm swapping with bloggers who have a similar readership size to Pulchritude Fest, so that we can send relatively equal traffic to each other.

You can either make your ad 170 x 170px tall, or 170x85px tall. We can trade ads that are around the same size. As for design, I just ask that you be consistent with the look and feel of my blog. I am happy to design an ad for you for a small $10 fee. I can give you that ad in a few different sizes so you can use it other places as well!

If you're interested in connecting, just shoot me an email at and we can get going!

I hope you like my new mini-makeover I did to my blog. After reading all of these wedding magazines, I was inspired by the amount of coral that is everywhere! Get ready, 'cause I think this year is going to be big in the coral-pink department.

If you're interested in having Maiedae help you with a blog makeover, please shoot us an email at for more information!

Beautiful Wedding

This weekend, I had the privilege to attend my soon-to-be sister-in-law's wedding. She was a gorgeous bride! She had a glow about her and her dress was spectacular. Probably the prettiest I've ever seen. Seriously. The wedding took place in Luna, Georgia, in an outdoor venue that was to die for. The beautiful mountains served as the backdrop to the ceremony. And, my almost-mother-in-law spent hours smocking these beautiful flower girl dresses! Aren't they adorable?!

I'm a lucky girl to be marrying into such a beautiful family.

Drew and I are working hard on our apartment and I will have pictures up soon of the finished table and chairs for the dining room! :) Wedding plans are soaring for our own special day and time is flying by. I'm trying hard to take in every moment and be fully there!!

May 14, 2012

So, this is the surprise I received this weekend. While I was babysitting my cousins, Drew was up at his parents' house in Gainesville building a kitchen table.

Let me just brag on my very-near-future husband. (Eeek!! I'm so happy he's almost my husband!) He is seriously talented at everything he does. And when I say everything, I mean everything. He is what you call a "Renaissance Man." This weekend, he decided to build a kitchen table. He showed me a picture online and said, "I'm going to build you this table." With no carpentry training or classes and never having built a table before, he did it. On the first try. With no problems.

AND...not only did he build a beautiful table, but without me knowing, he took pictures along the way, because he knew I would want to blog about it. What a thoughtful, servant-hearted man I have! He is so considerate and I am so proud to call him my fiance. :) So, here are the snapshots of his progress building the table with a few simple step-by-step instructions (although there were many more steps than this!) He is saving the legs to be put on once we get it down to Atlanta. We will also be staining it sometime after that.

I am so lucky.

Gifts Galore!

I've been working hard on painting some rooms and refurbishing some furniture pieces in the new apartment. I will make sure to show you pictures very soon of the new improvements! :)

We have already received many gifts from family and friends for our wedding. It is so exciting! It feels like Christmas every time something comes in the mail :) I wanted to share a few pictures of some of the gifts we've received.

Aren't these gifts beautiful??? Most of these gifts were from my registry at The Crystal Plate. It's a beautiful shop in Gainesville, Georgia. If you're in the area, you should definitely visit! The last picture is of the dinnerware I registered for at Anthropologie. I'm super excited about  the dishes. You can see my wish list here.

I'll be sure to show you pictures of the projects I've been working on soon!

A Few Sneak Peeks of the New Place

I just moved in and am still lacking some furniture, but things are starting to look better than they did on day one. As you can see, I've acquired a beautiful hutch for $100 on Craigslist, a table borrowed from my aunt that she and her mom both used in their first apartments, and a few other little accessories. The living room is waiting on Drew's couch (which desperately needs a slipcover...) and a few-- okay, a LOT-- of other items. I also am still on the lookout for some old dining room chairs that I can repaint or fix up. Hopefully I can find some at a garage sale or thrift store.

Talk to you soon!
