day 1: easy holiday gift ideas

Hello and a happy Monday to you! I hope you had a wonderful weekend :) I sure did! We had a fun girls' Christmas party last night at my place! We all showed up in pjs and ugly Christmas sweaters, then we watched Elf, decorated sugar cookies, drank coffee and wine, and opened presents. We also each picked out a white mug and a word to describe each of the other girls. Then, we took turns going around and telling why we picked that word for them. Afterwards, we wrote that special word on each other's mugs. It was so sweet.

This week, I have a special post series about easy DIY holiday gift ideas. This is great if you have waited last minute and still want to give them something unique, but don't have a lot of time. Today I am featuring customized mugs. You've probably seen this on Pinterest and the idea is simple: get a white mug or other piece of dinnerware and customize it with a favorite quote, a whimsical design, words that describe them, or their name.

SUPPLIES

  • White mug or porcelain piece of dinnerware
  • Pebeo porcelain 150 outliner or a sharpie marker (Pebeo paint is dishwasher safe, but more expensive. The sharpie is less reliable - I can only hand wash mine)
  • An oven :)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Paint your porcelain.
  2. Let it dry.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
