Happy New Year!!! I hope you've had a beautiful beginning to your 2013. It's been so wonderful to be able to take a break, rest, and rejuvenate. However, I'm very happy to be getting back into the swing of things. I took some time on my first day of 2013 to reflect over 2012, look at my progress, and to come up with some things for 2013.
Drew and I decided that we would start picking one or two words each year that we believed was our "theme" for that year. As we sat down yesterday looking over our goals for this year, we came up with two words: prepare & root.

PREPARE
We picked the word prepare because we believe that 2013 is going to be a huge year for us to prepare ourselves both financially and in our marriage for the future. This year we plan to pay off our loans, save up for buying a house, and begin saving for future children, as well as invest more in the foundation of our marriage. Drew and I believe that our marriage relationship is second most important to God and that He has entrusted us with it to sharpen us and make us more like Himself. We believe that if we can truly dig deep in our marriage relationship, it will not only make our marriage stronger, but will lead us into deeper personal growth and relationship with others.ROOT
The word root was chosen because we felt like this past year we did a lot of settling in and finding our place. Last year we got married, moved into an apartment together in a new area of town, started our own community groups, started new jobs, and learned how to be husband and wife. Now that we've found our place, we want to be more deeply rooted in every area of our life. We want to be more involved, form deeper relationships with co-workers and friends, invest in our community, and root ourselves where we are. One of my favorite quotes that is very fitting this year reads: "Wherever you are, be fully there." We want to be fully here, in Atlanta, investing in our community, and growing with those around us.
